Kiwanis June 24 Meeting Program: Tom Fountain, CTO of Pneuron Corporation, spoke about Entrepreneurial Accelerators.

Tom Fountain (right in photo), CTO of Pneuron Corporation spoke about Entrepreneurial Accelerators at the June 24, 2014 Kiwanis breakfast meeting at Charlie Browns Restaurant in Chatham Twp. John Eyre (left in the photo) welcomed Tom to the meeting.

Tom made reference to a book titled “The World is Flat” written by Tom Friedman, foreign affairs columnist for the New York Times. The book shows how technology changes in the late 80s and the 90s made it much easier to conduct business. Tom also handed out a sheet showing how Ideas/Markets, Talent, Capital and Resources make up Entrepreneurial Accelerators.

Tom gave a fascinating description of how business is conducted today using advanced technology. After an active Question and Answer session, the audience enthusiastically applauded this enlightening and entertaining presentation.

Kiwanis Annual Stanley Park Picnic on June 17, 2014

Members of Chatham-Madison Kiwanis Club enjoyed the annual picnic held at the Stanley Park in Chatham Borough next to the Passaic River. The event was held on June 17 in warm weather.

Kiwanis June 10 Meeting Program: Dan RosenHanst, Volunteer Director, Bridges spoke on "Bridges, its founding and purpose”.


Dan RosenHanst, Volunteer Director, Bridges (left in photo was introduced by Nancy Holt (right) at the June 10, 2014 Kiwanis luncheon meeting at Charlie Brown’s Restaurant. Dan gave an inspiring talk on Bridges, its founding and purpose.

Founded in 1988, Bridges reaches out to the homeless in New York City, Newark, Irvington, and Summit, New Jersey every week.  Over 1,500 volunteers each year help deliver 100,000 meals, seasonal clothing, and necessities without question and with genuine respect.

2014 Annual Chatham High School Kiwanis Scholarship Winners Announced

Year 2014 Chatham Kiwanis Scholarship winners Keri Cronin (left) and Samantha O’Brien (right) were announced by Kiwanis President John Eyre at the May 27 breakfast meeting held at Charlie Brown’s. They will also be recognized at the June 20 CHS graduation ceremony as this year’s winners of $8,000 Kiwanis Chatham High School scholarships. Scholarship winners receive $2,000 per year for four years.

Kiwanis June 3 Meeting Program: Dr. Marlys Howarth, D.O. of Summit Medical Group gave a presentation on "How to get the most out of your doctor's appointment".

Dr. Marlys Howarth (right in photo) was introduced by Tom Mullin (left) at the June 3 Kiwanis luncheon meeting at Charlie Brown’s in Chatham Twp. She told the audience “How to get the most out of your doctor’s appointment”. May 27 Kiwanis Meeting Program: Rebecca Abenante and Catherine Owens from Morristown Medical Center spoke about Services for older adults at Morristown Medical Center.

Rebecca Abenante (left in photo) and Catherine Owens (right) from Morristown Medical Center talked about the new Geriatric Assessment Center (a work in progress on South Street in Morristown) and the Geriatric Emergency Department (main hospital). Rebecca is the Healthy Aging Coordinator and Catherine is the Geriatric Assessment Center Social Worker at Morristown Medical Center. They gave a complete overview of the Healthy Aging Program at the Atlantic Health System.
